Periodontal Disease
Puffy and bleeding gums could be a sign you may have periodontal disease, or more commonly known as gum disease, an infection caused by plaque build-up. Gum disease can lead to tooth decay or loss, so it is important to catch it early. Other signs of possible gum disease include teeth discolouration and sensitivity as well as bad breath.
Keeping up with your regular preventative care appointments plus daily brushing and flossing can diagnose gum disease early before it worsens. If the dentist does find gum disease, it can be treated and a treatment plan will be determined to best restore your gums to good health.
